Anoto grid and Fictrix Digital Pen System

By using the Anoto-grid-technology on the forms, functionality can be attached to each input field. The forms can contain both structured fields - e.g. relation number, business number, date, time, checkboxes, normalized values - and open text fields. The image of the form is actually disaggregated from the dots that represent the written text. The form image sits on the server. As soon as these forms are completed with the digital pen, the encrypted dots are sent to a server where the form image and the data points are reintroduced to each other.

Data Server: Once the information is de-encrypted at the server, character recognition software is applied to interpret the handwriting and check for logic and other conditions. The digitized interpretation is then available for the client to validate and save in the database.

The original source document is maintained, but the open text fields remain available, and can be accessed in digital form at any time. Character recognition of the forms is an automated, quick and highly efficient process. In general, depending on the form design and neatness of completion of the form, over 90% of the information is decoded flawlessly.

Manual validation solves any outstanding imperfections in the automated character recognition. Clients can perform this manual monitoring themselves or they can outource it to Progressare. If the client decides on outsourcing, the form will be validated within 24 hours.

Grid Technology: The Fictrix system uses the Anoto-Grid technology to ensure each unique form flawlessly maintains the correct data through the use of dots to orient the pen. The forms can contain both structured fields – e.g. relation number, business number, date, time, checkboxes, normalized values – and open text fields. A wafer-thin grid with slightly displaced dots is pressed onto the form. The grid is sensitive to touch and recognizes the data from the digital pen as the location of dots. As soon as a form is filled out completely, the dot information is disconnected from the form image and sent to a server by means of a communication device (such as a Bluetooth application or docking station) where the information is reunited with the image of the form.

Fictrix Character Recognition: The special character recognition software must be installed on the server. This software translates the location of the dots to digital data. After validation, the data is saved to the database in XML format. In addition, both the ink and interpreted images are available in pdf format. Once a document is sealed, no further data can be added. A document can be emailed or available to a user through secure login.
